Wondering who to blame for Dubya? Check out which religions rule which counties. Who's to blame for Dubya? The Baptists and the Mormons.
Great essay on how Christians ought to be acting.
The National Council of Churches USA is following in the footsteps of the United Church of Christ in demanding that mainstream churches get the same media attention as whack-job right-wing churches do.
Overview of and commentary on a Media Matters study showing that the networks favor the right when it comes to coverage of religion.
Which group is hated and mistrusted most by Americans?
Atheists!
Rabbi David Basri says that bird flu outbreaks are due to his god punishing us for not hating gays enough.
Oh, c'mon.
A bill in the Missouri House seeks to make Christianity the state's official "majority" religion. It's pretty up-front about wanting to ensure that the official "majority" religion can run rough-shod over other religions.
The Family Research Council claims that all that really matters to Catholics is the abortion issue.
Catholics disagree.
Schoolbus driver loses her job for being a witch.
That, and her husband is a self-declared vampire, running for governor of Minnesota.
US bishops say that we should pull out of Iraq, "leaving sooner than later."
Look, when even the pedophiles want you to pull out, maybe you ought to consider it.
Wonkette gives a fun, but accurate, analysis of Dubya's 2005 holiday greeting.
Finally some good poll numbers. 60% of those in Utah approve of Dubya.
The sad thing is that Mormons don't seem to realize that fundamentalists will never really accept them as fellow christians. They'll keep Mormons around as long as they continue to rabidly toe the Republican party line. But once they've taken care of the gays, Mormons might well be next on the list.
(Note: They've already taken out blacks. Blacks voted 9 to 1 for Kerry and he still lost. Dubya, and Republicans in general, don't care about blacks. They haven't since they absorbed the Dixiecrats.)
Apparently Miers was the conduit through which everything bound for Dubya had to pass. Amazingly, when it came time for the White House to send out its yearly xmas card, Miers dubbed the first drafts to be too Christian, and repeatedly sent them back for re-writes.
She's not making it easy to pin her down, is she?
Here's the opening paragraph:
"The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles allowed at least eight priests to remain in contact with children even after receiving complaints that the clerics had a sexual interest in minors, according to church documents produced in the lawsuits by hundreds of alleged sexual-abuse victims."
Which means they didn't protect the kids. Here's the second paragraph:
"That is twice as many as the church had previously conceded."
Which means they lied about it.

The Catholic church begins to clean house, by ousting the good priests. Case in point, the Rev. Walter H. Cuenin. His crimes against the church? Embracing divorced Catholics, gays and lesbians. TReating women as equals. And, gasp, criticizing the church's handling of sexual abuse.
The Catholic Church steps up efforts to keep gays out of the priesthood.
Must be because gays like grown men, not little boys.
Yep, it's an essay by George Will. Yes, that George Will. Even George admits that Christians today are whining about prosecution against them that just doesn't exist.
Usually George only makes sense when he's talking about baseball.
A long set of disturbing quotes regarding religion. If you ever wondered whether the far-right were well meaning or simple whack-jobs, well, they're whack-jobs.
(There is some question about whether the Bush Sr. quote is accurate.)
Watching the right-wing may lead you to believe that all Christians are rabid nut-cases. They're not. Most are wonderful folks. The Christian Alliance for Progress wants to reclaim Christianity and restore core values of Christianity while honoring diverse views about religion and Christian life. Refreshing, eh?
