Homeland Security Nabs Free Stater From Home
(via www.keenefreepress.com)

Free State advocate and Libertarian is arrested for, gasp, trying to hand out flyers prompting IRS employees to quit.

If Libertarians really cared about their freedoms as much as they do about money, they'd have stopped voting for Republicans long ago.

Marshals: Innocent People Placed On 'Watch List' To Meet Quota
(via www.thedenverchannel.com)

Just like a rural cop laying in wait, federal air marshals are writing up folks simply to make a freakin' quota. No suspicious activity reported, no raises and bonuses.

Really? Yep. Management says "There may come an occasion when you just don't see anything out of the ordinary for a month at a time, but I'm sure that if you are looking for it, you'll see something."

A Veteran is kicked out of a V.A. Medical Center for wearing a Veterans For Peace shirt. Even arrested. Yes, this country has gone completely insane.

If you're in the military and think that this administration cares about you or has even the slightest sincere respect for you, you are fooling yourself.

Nice rant on how the Dubya administration is slowly but surely setting up a police state in the name of national security.

Nothing really new here, but a good read nonetheless.

Civics Flash Cards: Question 80
(via www.uscis.gov)

The government provides flash cards to prospective citizens to help them bone up on US civics. Question 80 goes like this:

A: The rights of freedom of speech, of religion, of assembly, and to petition the Government.

Notice anything missing? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Freedom of the press, maybe?

Feds Drop Bomb on EFF Lawsuit
(via blog.wired.com)

The Electronic Freedom Foundation is suing the Feds over their deal with AT&T to pass all Internet traffic through their dirty clutches.

The Feds are trying to dismiss the case invoking the "State Secrets Privilege." Basically, they're saying that the case would hurt national security.

Also, basically, it means we've moved to a full-fledged dictatorship where efforts to shine the light of true liberty on government actions is extinguished just because the state says so.

Farrand Field 4-20-2006
(via www.colorado.edu)

Every April 20th (4/20), marijuana fans everywhere light up at 4:20 pm. At the University of Colorado, they light up at Farrand Field.

This year, campus cops took photos of folks, posted it on their web site, and asked upright citizens (otherwise known as filthy snithches) to help ID these folks for $50 a lead.

I guess there's no real crime with which they could be dealing instead.
